As we look forward to Easter (April 4th this year), I propose looking more closely at Holy Week and its context. I take my inspiration from the 2006 book The Last Week: A Day-by-Day Account of Jesus's Final Week in Jerusalem by two Bible scholars: Marcus Borg, a Lutheran, and John Dominic Crossan, a Jesuit.I offer my understanding from the perspective of a nontheist Quaker, to explore this “background of high-priestly collaboration with Roman imperial control” of Palestine (p.viii). I will leave plenty of time for comments.
